Booking choice: The Calypso Molokini trip, from $189 per person. Check dates Tour details
A morning snorkel trip to Molokini costs between $144 and $318 per adult in 2026. The cheapest seat overall is $100, but that one is an afternoon trip that usually snorkels somewhere else. In between sit big catamarans with breakfast and lunch, small boats with 19 to 35 guests, and a sailing cat with an open bar.
Prices below are the Viator from-prices for adults, checked in October 2026. They move with the season. Every trip on this site has free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
The quick answer
A full morning on a big Ma'alaea catamaran with two meals costs $160 to $233. The fastest trip, a 2-hour raft from Kihei, is $144. Small boats run $194 to $205, and the premium sail and yacht cost $269 and $318. Budget extra for parking at Ma'alaea (about $1 to $3 an hour), crew tips and any wetsuit rental ($10). The $100 afternoon trip is cheap because it usually goes to Coral Gardens, not Molokini.

How much does a Molokini snorkel tour cost in 2026?

Check dates for the early Malolo tripWhat does the price include, and what costs extra?
Snorkel gear and a guided swim are always included; most Ma'alaea boats add breakfast and lunch. Parking, towels, tips, photos and wetsuits usually cost extra.
- Always included: mask, snorkel and fins, a safety briefing and crew in the water. Most boats also lend flotation belts, vests or boards.
- Usually included: breakfast and lunch on the big catamarans. The Redline raft has no food and lists bottled water as an exclusion; bring your own.
- Drinks: open bar on the Ali'i Nui, Pride of Maui and Elua; beer and wine on Four Winds. On the Calypso and Malolo, alcohol is $3 a drink; the Calypso serves it only once the snorkeling is over.
- Extras on board: wetsuit rental $10 on Calypso and Malolo, Dramamine at $5 for two tablets on both, and photo packages from the onboard photographer. SNUBA costs extra on Pride of Maui and Four Winds.
- On land: no trip includes hotel pickup. Parking at Ma'alaea is paid by QR code and card; the Kihei Boat Ramp lots are free.
Since 1 January 2024, commercial operators also collect a $1 per person ocean stewardship user fee for the state.

Which Molokini trip gives the most time on the water for the money?
Per hour, the big Ma'alaea catamarans are cheapest at about $29 to $47. The fast Kihei rafts cost the most per hour, but most of their time is spent in the water.
We divided each from-price by the trip length on the listing. It is a rough measure: on a 5-hour catamaran, about an hour and a half is the ride out and back, while on the raft the crossing takes about 15 minutes each way.
| Trip | From | Length | Per hour |
|---|---|---|---|
| Malolo morning | $160 | 5.5 hours | About $29 |
| Calypso | $189 | 5.5 hours | About $34 |
| Four Winds | $213 | 5 hours | About $43 |
| Pride of Maui | $233 | 5 hours | About $47 |
| Maui Reef Adventures | $205 | 4 hours | About $51 |
| Ali'i Nui sail | $269 | 5 hours | About $54 |
| Elua yacht | $318 | 5 hours | About $64 |
| Makena Coast raft | $194 | 3 hours | About $65 |
| Redline raft | $144 | 2 hours | About $72 |
Long trips also mean two snorkel stops, usually Molokini and Turtle Town on the Makena coast, and two meals. Short trips mean you are back by mid-morning with the rest of the day free. One raft guest summed up the trade: "Only 11 of us on the boat, quick ride over to the reef and plenty of time in the water to see all of the fish!"

The best value per hour: 5.5 hours, two snorkel stops, breakfast and lunch, and a 6:30 AM start that beats the wind.
Explore the early Malolo trip Tour detailsWhy is the cheapest trip only $100?
Because it leaves at 1:00 PM, when the trade winds usually keep boats away from Molokini. It snorkels Molokini or Coral Gardens, and guests mostly report Coral Gardens.
The Malolo afternoon snorkel is honest about it in its title: Molokini or Coral Gardens. Four Winds, which runs its own afternoon trip, says on its afternoon page that Molokini is rarely accessible after lunch and that the high cliffs above Coral Gardens shelter it from the afternoon trade winds.
Coral Gardens is a pleasant reef on the west Maui coast, often with turtles. It is not the crater. If Molokini is the reason you are booking, a morning seat at $144 to $160 is the real entry price. Our morning vs afternoon guide has the details.

Want the crater for the least money? The Redline raft reaches Molokini in about 15 minutes from Kihei.
Check dates for the 2-hour Molokini raftIs it cheaper to book a Molokini tour directly with the boat?
Sometimes, by about $8 to $35 for adults, and child fares are easier to see direct. Viator gives free cancellation up to 24 hours before, which direct terms do not always match.
Side by side, adult and child (4 to 12) fares from the operators' own or partner booking pages:
| Boat | Direct adult | Direct child | Viator from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Calypso | $178.95 at Boss Frog's | $118.95 | $189 |
| Pride of Maui | $198 all-in | $158 | $233 |
| Four Winds | $205.41 | $156.76 | $213 |
Boss Frog's notes that its rates may vary in peak season and on holidays. What Viator adds: one cart for several boats, reviews in one place and a 24-hour free cancellation window on every trip here. Redline, for comparison, asks for 48 hours' notice on direct bookings for parties of five or fewer and 72 hours for six or more (Redline FAQ). Families of four should compare both, because Viator's headline number is the adult price.
Do you get money back if the boat can't reach Molokini?
No. If the captain picks another site because of wind or swell, no operator refunds the difference. If the operator cancels the trip, you get a new date or a full refund.
Every listing makes Molokini weather-dependent. Four Winds puts it plainly: "We can never guarantee a snorkel location." Pride of Maui says the captain may choose an alternate site on windy or high-swell days. Even the raft sold as Molokini Guaranteed says on its own FAQ that snorkel locations may change when necessary.
Guests notice. Pride of Maui and Malolo reviewers in 2026 describe missing the crater or Turtle Town and getting no discount. The best protection costs nothing: book the earliest departure you can face, and keep a spare morning later in your stay in case of a full weather cancellation.

Are the $269 sail and the $318 yacht worth the premium?
For a special day, yes: fewer guests, better food and an open bar. For snorkeling alone, no. You swim the same water as the $160 boat.
The Ali'i Nui is a wide sailing catamaran with a photographer, an open bar and a zero-proof drinks list, capped at 65. The Elua yacht takes 40 at most, leaves at 6:30 AM and admits nobody under 4. One Elua guest: "They got us out to all the spots first, so we got to see a lot of wildlife, while the ocean was still calm, and uncrowded."
An Ali'i Nui guest wrote that the boat carried 54 people and "made it feel crowded at times", so small is relative. If what you want is fewer people for less money, Maui Reef Adventures caps its boat at 35 for $205.

The calmest, quietest start: 40 guests at most, out at 6:30 AM, breakfast, lunch and drinks included.
Explore the Elua luxury yacht Tour detailsHow much should you budget for the whole morning?
Add about $10 to $20 per car for Ma'alaea parking, plus tips in cash. Two adults on the Calypso spend roughly $400 all in.
A worked example for two adults on the Calypso: $378 for two seats, about $15 to $18 for parking (one Pride of Maui guest paid $18 at $3 an hour), and a cash tip for the crew. Add $20 if you both rent wetsuits in winter.
Tips are not built in. Calypso and Malolo tell guests to bring cash if they want to tip the crew, and a Pride of Maui guest noted that "a tip is expected on top of the cost of the tickets." Bring a card for parking too: the Ma'alaea meters are paid by QR code. What to pack beyond money is in what to bring.
Two slides, a glass-bottom room, breakfast and lunch: the classic big-boat morning for $189.

Is there an entrance fee for Molokini?
No. Molokini is a state Marine Life Conservation District and seabird sanctuary, and nobody lands on the islet. You pay only for the boat; operators collect a $1 state ocean stewardship fee per person.
What is the cheapest way to snorkel Molokini?
The 6:30 AM Malolo morning trip at $160 with two meals, or the 2-hour Redline raft from Kihei at $144. The $100 afternoon trip usually snorkels Coral Gardens instead of the crater.
Do kids pay less on Molokini tours?
On the big catamarans, yes: Calypso charges $118.95 for ages 4 to 12 at Boss Frog's and Pride of Maui $158 on its own site. Small boats and rafts charge one price for everyone. See Molokini with kids.
Can I get a refund if the weather is bad?
If the operator cancels, yes: a new date or a full refund. If the boat sails but snorkels somewhere other than Molokini, there is no partial refund on any trip.
